Saturday 17th June 10 – 4 pm
Lawrence Weston Community Farm

UPDATE: This workshop is now fully booked, and there is a waiting list.

Learn how you can create your own nature journal through sketching and writing! This workshop will get you started with simple tips, techniques and ideas.
You’ll find out how to:
  • really see the natural world on your doorstep,
  • question and record your observations in a creative way
  • increase your appreciation of nature
No previous drawing experience is needed.

This is a free day workshop in conjunction with Lawrence Weston Community Farm, who are celebrating their 30th birthday this year and Avon Wildlife Trust as part of the Wildlife Trust's  30 Days Wild.

To take part you must be over 18.
There will be outdoor sessions sketching around the Farm and Saltmarsh Drive Open Space* so please dress appropriately according to the weather.  If it is warm, please bring a hat, sunglasses, water and sunscreen.
Bring wet weather gear if necessary, and wear sturdy outdoor boots/shoes as the area can be muddy.

The day will be divided between working indoors and practical sessions outside, putting techniques into practice. Art supplies will be available to borrow, or participants can bring their own. Please see my Nature Journaling Page for more information.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch. There is a local  supermarket, baker and convenience store at Ridingleaze, which is a 5 minute walk from the Farm.

Places are strictly limited and booking is essential. Please click HERE to e-mail me and reserve a place.

This class is suitable for beginners or those who would like to refresh their skills and learn some new techniques. You’ll learn how to transfer the design; lots of hints and tips for successful stitching, and a variety of stitches.  We’ll play with these and then put them together to create an image, which will be designed uniquely for this class.  The finished piece can be used in a variety of ways

We’ll be working with PerlĂ© cotton,  and three stranded cotton, which are really easy to use, and stitch up quickly.  Participants may bring their own supplies or purchase a kit containing beautiful Valdani thread, specially imported from the USA

I also teach one to one and small private classes. Please contact me if you are interested in a workshop.
