Unique Stamps for Stitch

Saturday 14th October                                             10.00 am - 4.00 pm

Join me on a creative journey learning how to easily create your own detailed hand made stamps, without lino cutting, or any complicated processes.

No artistic ability is needed; working in a small scale format (A4 size) you will learn how to find a suitable image, and then we’ll use simple methods to trace the design and create the stamp. The next stage is adding detail and refinement to make our stamps totally unique and interesting.
We’ll use water based mediums to print the designs onto fabric, and you’ll learn techniques to give the best results for interesting prints!
These prints give a wonderful basis for embellishing with stitch, and allow you to create a unique decorative project. The method works well on all sorts of papers too, and we will look at lots of different ways you can use your stamps!

Cost for the day is £50.00. This is a small class and places are strictly limited.
The cost includes your kit, use of all tools, paints etc, and tea, coffee and cake. Please bring your own lunch.
Venue: Baptist Church, Reedley Road, Westbury on Trym, BS9 3TE

Stitch Doodling

Saturday 18th November                                                  10.00am - 4.00 pm

Come and enjoy a creative day of slow stitching. Learn my fun method using different stitches to fill in an image, rather than relying on conventional methods of embroidery. Learn some interesting ways to use a variety of stitches, then we’ll spend some time looking at colour, and find out about establishing a colour palette. You’ll also discover how to use variegated thread.

We’ll be stitching with beautiful hand overdyed Valdani threads, imported from the USA.

This class is suitable for those with some hand stitching experience.

Cost for the day is £50.00. This is a small class and places are strictly limited.
There is no need to bring anything; the cost includes a full kit for the day, use of tools etc, plus tea, coffee and cake. Please bring your own lunch.

Sketching through Nature
Autumn in Watercolour
 Saturday 23rd September 10.00 am - 3.00 pm
Training Room, Lawrence Weston Community Farm

This is a day to explore, have fun and learn about something I consider to be a magical medium. Watercolour to me is the perfect partner to sketching and journaling!  You don't have to use a journal,  the workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to learn to begin to capture nature in watercolour.

Using nature as our focus we will learn to really look  at our subjects,  find out why observation is so important, and how  attention to nature takes us to another level. We'll create  some basic sketches, and  then we will delve into colour! There will be practical sessions, but also playtime and fun!

You will have a chance to try out one or two other watersoluble mediums.

Weather permitting, we will have a session outside and use the wealth of subject matter at Lawrence Weston Community Farm, and the salt marsh landscape as inspiration, however, if that's not possible there will be lots of  beautiful 'found'  natural objects to work on -  the training room is large, and has great views!

The cost for the day is £40.00 which includes coffee, tea and biscuits, use of other media and resources, and handouts for the day.

The venue: Lawrence Weston Community Farm is on the outskirts of the City of Bristol. There is a car park at the front of the farm, off Saltmarsh Drive. There is no cafe at the farm, so  you'll need to bring your own lunch.Local shops including a Co-op and Greggs Bakery are a 5 minute walk away.

There's a free car park at the farm.

First Bus 3 and 4  (Broadmead to Cribbs Causeway) stop at Ridingleaze on Long Cross, a two minute walk from the farm entrance. Full details and travel information are on the website link above.
